BasiGo CEO presents Kenya’s E-mobility Potential at round table with President Ruto and U.S. President Biden

BasiGo Co-founder and CEO Jit Bhattacharya had the extraordinary honour of representing Kenya’s EV industry during a private roundtable with US President Joe Biden and Kenya’s President H.E. William Samoei Ruto, PhD at the White House, Washington DC during President Ruto’s State Visit.

Kenya’s E-mobility sector was cited as an example of our entrepreneurial power. A few years ago, this sector did not exist. Now, over 30 innovative startup companies are driving this transformation.

With 90% of Kenya’s energy coming from renewable sources, the impact of the EV transition in Kenya is profound. We are replacing imported fuel with domestically generated clean energy while mitigating CO2 emissions and keeping precious FX reserves in the country.

No doubt Kenya’s EV industry is leading a Green Industrial Revolution. Thanks to forward-thinking government policies, Kenya is on the path to becoming a manufacturing hub for African EVs. We envision a future where Kenya manufactures not just vehicles, but also key components like batteries, motors, and electronics, leveraging cutting-edge technology from US corporations.

With the right policies and support, we can lead the world in affordable, low-carbon transport, paving the way for a homegrown Green Industrial Revolution movement in Africa.
